Product Description

Fifteen years running eCommerce P&Ls for multi-brand DTC and marketplace portfolios. Most of that time has gone to the same three questions: where margin is leaking, which channel is getting credit for revenue it did not create, and what needs rebuilding rather than optimizing.

The part that is harder to find on a resume is the building. Over the past year I have shipped more than ten production AI systems into live business operations: catalog automation, semantic internal linking across a 200K+ SKU catalog, multi-touch attribution, supplier feed parsing, answer engine optimization. Not prototypes. Systems that run every day and that businesses depend on.

That combination is the whole pitch. Senior operator judgment about what to build, plus the ability to build it, instead of waiting for a roadmap slot that never opens.

How the work gets done

A marketing operating system

Built to run a global marketing team at a B2B SaaS company, and installed since at organizations that had no structure around marketing at all. None of it is universal. It is a foundation a team can adopt in a week and then bend to fit.

The board Five columns, left to right: intake, sequenced, in progress with a work-in-progress limit of three, review, and shipped. A daily stand-up clears blockers across in progress and review. A weekly session commits the work at the start and shows what shipped at the end. INTAKE SEQUENCED IN PROGRESS WIP 3 REVIEW SHIPPED Daily stand-up. Blockers get named here. Weekly: commit at this end, show what shipped at this one.
The board is the contract. If it is not on the board, it is not happening.
  1. 01

    Sequencing, in the open

Every candidate piece of work is sized against the value it unlocks and the thing it unblocks, then ordered. The order is visible to everyone, which is what stops the loudest request in the room from winning by volume.

  2. 02

One Kanban the whole company can read

A single board with work-in-progress limits and columns that mean the same thing to marketing, to engineering, and to the executive team. Nobody has to ask for a status update, because the answer is already on the wall.

  3. 03

A scrum that commits to something small

One short session to commit the week and one to show what actually shipped. It is a working session, not a status meeting, and the difference is whether anything gets decided in it.

  4. 04

    Ten-minute stand-ups

Standing up, no laptops, three questions. Blockers get named out loud in front of the person who can clear them, which is the entire reason the meeting exists.

The ceremony is not the point. The point is that value arrives in pieces you can measure instead of one release at the end of a long wait, and that everyone can see what is coming next and what it is worth. Reviewers on this page describe the same thing in their own words.

Systems in production

Built hands-on and running in live operations every day. Eight of them, and the first two are public products anyone can go and use.

  1. Catalog Canaryscreenshot pending

    01

    Catalog Canary

Shopify app that watches a product catalog and records every change to price, inventory, description, and variants, with before and after values, Slack and email alerts, and one-click revert.

Replaced finding out about a bad bulk edit from a customer, or from the analytics, a week later.

  2. nameTheGhostscreenshot pending

    02

    nameTheGhost

Identifies the anonymous business visitors already browsing a site and returns name, title, and company from one pasted snippet, priced per match rather than per seat.

Replaced a funnel that started at the form fill and ignored everyone who left before it.

  3. Automated cold outreach pipelinescreenshot pending

    03

    Automated cold outreach pipeline

Claude, Lemlist, and LinkedIn wired into one pipeline that builds the lead list, researches each account, drafts outreach that reads like a person wrote it, and sequences the follow-up. Running for clients now.

Replaced buying a list and blasting it, which is the reason most cold outreach does not work.

  4. AI Visibility appscreenshot pending

    04

    AI Visibility app

Shopify app surfacing how a brand appears in LLM answers.

Replaced manual spot-checking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

  5. Semantic internal linking enginescreenshot pending

Ingests emailed supplier feeds and monitors supplier and competitor sites to keep availability and pricing current.

How these ratings work

Every rating here is a written recommendation from someone who worked with Paul: a manager, a peer, a direct report, or a client. Most were posted publicly on LinkedIn, and the rest were sent to him directly. Each is condensed and lightly edited for length, shown by title and relationship only, never by name, and without a date, because a good recommendation does not go stale. Work history entries below carry no rating, because self-assigned stars on your own jobs read as exactly that.

Customers say

Reviewers describe someone who can both lead and do. The recurring notes: he owns the number rather than the deck, he builds the system instead of asking for it, and he makes the people around him measurably better at their jobs. Executives describe scope well past the website, into merchandising, retail, and the call center. The people who reported to him describe a lean Agile process that sequences work in the open, so everyone can see what ships next and what it is worth. More than one reviewer independently raises speed, with more delivered in a few weeks than agencies managed in years.

Drawn from the recommendations below, which are the whole set. Nothing has been left out to improve the average.

  1. Founder

    Paul’s client, local company

Rated 5 out of 5 Replaced two subscriptions with something that actually fit

    Verified recommendation

We were paying a lot of money for two different software platforms and neither one did everything we needed, so we were still doing half the work by hand. Paul looked at what we were actually trying to accomplish instead of what the software was sold to do, and he built us an automation that does exactly that and nothing else. It runs better than either tool did and it costs us about a tenth of what we were spending. I did not expect the person who understood our marketing to also be the person who solved our software problem.

  2. President

    Managed Paul directly

Rated 5 out of 5 Got the digital and marketing sides pulling in the same direction

    Verified recommendation

Before Paul, our digital operation and our marketing team were effectively two companies that happened to share a logo. He fixed it by fixing the platform first, so both sides were finally working off the same data, the same calendar, and the same definition of a win. Campaigns stopped launching into a site that was not ready for them.

He also brought in a lean, Agile way of working that sequenced everything in the open. Every person on the team could see what was shipping next and why it was next. We stopped finding out six weeks late that a project had drifted, and value arrived in pieces we could measure rather than one large release at the end of a long wait.

  3. Chief Executive Officer

    Managed Paul directly

Rated 5 out of 5 He does considerably more than run the website

    Verified recommendation

Hiring Paul to run eCommerce undersells what we got. He ended up helping run the business. His read on how a digital decision ripples through merchandising, the call center, retail, and inventory is the best I have worked with, and he brings it without being asked for it.

He is also genuinely ahead of the market on what is coming next, which is unusual in someone who can also execute at that level. Most people are one or the other. If I started another company tomorrow he would be one of my first calls.

  4. Client

    DTC brand

Rated 5 out of 5 More and better work in weeks than agencies did in years

    Verified recommendation

HUGE shoutout to Paul who has literally done more AND better work on our website in the few weeks he’s been here than any of our CRO agencies did in 1–2 years. So incredibly grateful for all of your care & attention here. You did some MAJOR spring site cleaning!

  5. Senior Director, Growth Marketing

    Reported to Paul directly

Rated 5 out of 5 Ran the conversion program and taught us how to work

    Verified recommendation

Paul built our conversion optimization program from nothing and then ran it himself, writing the hypotheses and reading the results rather than handing it to an agency and hoping. Add-to-cart rate on our product pages doubled and overall site conversion more than doubled while he was there.

Just as valuable was how he ran the team. He put in a lean, Agile marketing process where the work was sequenced transparently, so everyone could see what was coming next and what it was worth. We shipped in weeks instead of waiting on a quarterly plan that was already stale by the time it landed. I have not worked that way before or since.

  6. Chief Marketing Officer

    Managed Paul directly

Rated 5 out of 5 He can both lead and do

    Verified recommendation

Paul is a great marketer and great to work with. He understands business models and strategy and how to create the right marketing strategy including channels, creative, and analytics to help build plans and execute. He can both lead and do. And, he’s also a great guy who creates valuable relationships to partner with others, and achieves big results. I enjoyed working with Paul and hope our paths cross again at some point.

  7. Chief Financial Officer

    Peer on the leadership team

Rated 5 out of 5 The rare marketing leader who reads a P&L

    Verified recommendation

Paul owned the number, not just the channel. He came into budget conversations with the contribution math already done, and he was straight with us when something was not working, which is not what finance usually gets from a growth function.

He grew paid revenue substantially while bringing acquisition cost down, and he could tell you exactly which decisions did it. We trusted his forecasts. I do not say that about many people.

  8. Chief Technology Officer

    Peer on the leadership team

Rated 5 out of 5 Led the redesign and kept it on the rails

    Verified recommendation

Paul led our site redesign from requirements through launch. He was the person in the room who could talk to the designers, to my engineers, and to the executive team without needing a translator, which is the main reason the project did not stall the way these usually do.

He made the hard scope calls early and then held to them. We launched on something we could keep building on afterward, which mattered more than anything visible on the page.

    Paul’s client

Rated 5 out of 5 Migration, redesign, and SEO, then kept on contract since

    Verified recommendation

In addition, Paul also gave our website a complete design overhaul which made it easier for our customers to navigate our website, learn about our products and services, and reach out to us for pricing and quotes. Since then, we have continued to keep Paul on contract and he now manages and maintains our website and SEO efforts and ensures that all of our website content is optimized for search. We couldn’t be happier with his work and highly recommend his service.

    Verified recommendation

Although Paul’s intelligence and analytical abilities were impressive, I think that his ability to adapt to any environment is the skill that will continue to set him apart. Paul was equally effective as a project manager or project subordinate. Furthermore, I trust Paul’s character. He will be an asset to any organization that hires him.
